Safe Meetings

Your health and safety are our top priorities. In light of the dramatic changes to public health guidance due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have updated or enhanced many of our protocols to support the safety and well-being of everyone who walks through our doors.

Reopening Status

We are currently closed to events. The reopening timeline depends on state and local revisions to restrictions on public gatherings. For regional updates, see the County of San Diego Public Health Order, the City of San Diego Coronavirus resource hub and the San Diego Tourism Authority’s Safe Travel page. We will continue to post updates here and stay in communication with your event's organizers regarding news and plans.

Reopening Guide

Our Reopening Guide contains information about social distancing, infection prevention, PPE, health monitoring and additional industry best practices we are implementing at our facility. This guide is in draft form as we await further guidance from state public health officials. Once we have this guidance, we will be updating this page with specific information for attendees.

Certified Protocols

We are one of the first convention centers in the United States to achieve the prestigious GBAC STAR™ facility accreditation. Under the guidance of the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), we have stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention.

Our food and beverage partners, Centerplate, earned an additional hygiene verification label, Rise SAFE, that is specifically for catering operations. Rise SAFE is managed by Centerplate’s parent company, Sodexo, and Bureau Veritas, an independent world leader in testing, inspection, and certification.

We are updating these plans as we continue preparing to reopen for events. We can't wait to safely welcome you to sunny San Diego!
