When she isn’t snowboarding, scuba diving or exploring Balboa Park, Renee Jung is often found in our Exhibit Halls or Sails Pavilion, working with colleagues and customers in her professional role as Exhibitor Services Supervisor. Renee has worked here for nearly four years, starting as a Facility Services Supervisor before assuming her current position.
“Being born and raised in San Diego, I have a lot of love for this city. I wanted to work here to contribute to my community and be a part of this economic engine,” she said.
Since 2018, Renee has supervised services for thousands of exhibit booths and stepped up to assist with supervising cleaning services while our building served as an emergency shelter for more than a year of the pandemic. As our halls transformed for the REALTORS® Conference and Expo, she shared her experiences building her career here on the San Diego Bay.

How do you describe your experience here? What do you enjoy about it?
It amazes me how we build small cities daily. No day is the same, and the opportunities are endless. The events here attract guests from all over the world; it’s exciting to learn, experience, and create memories from the variety of events and their attendees. Also, the MARVELous team I work with...cue Avengers theme song!
Have any specific exhibit booths stood out to you over the years?
In August, AAOS had an exhibitor booth that took up almost an entire hall. The production and operations required to set up these booths are astonishing. The final product is so grandiose. Knowing the operations behind the final showcase enables you to appreciate it much more.
MGMA in October had the most adorable baby goats and llamas for attendees to take photos with, pet, and feed. Honestly, every event hosted here has something magical going on.
Do you have any favorite places to go or eat near the Convention Center?
Waterfront Park. I got married there! And saw my favorite band at a festival there.
Also, Seaport Village, Petco Park—Go Padres!, San Diego Symphony’s Rady Shell and Balboa Park. I recently saw Dune on the Fleet Science Center’s 76-foot wraparound IMAX screen with laser technology. It was phenomenal being able to immerse myself into another world for a couple of hours.
How would you describe your colleagues?
An eccentric mix of extraordinary human beings. The different personalities and cultures create great memories and experiences. We look out and care for each other.
Any favorite memories?
Favorites have always been difficult for me. There have been so many great memories, I can’t pick one! The first one to come to mind is our ERC Holiday Christmas Celebration. This is an annual celebration hosted by the Employee Recreation Council to honor the employees at SDCC, a festive night filled with delicious food, music, dancing, but most importantly, celebrating each other.
