For an astounding 11th time in 12 years, the San Diego Convention Center has captured a Planners' Choice Award, one of the most highly prized honors in the hospitality industry. In a 2004 readers' poll, sponsored by Meeting News, a leading industry publication, more than 60,000 meeting professionals nationwide - all key decision makers - were asked to name the very best convention center in the nation for the outstanding quality of its facility and excellence in customer service. San Diego's convention center emerged the winner. San Diego has won this coveted award every year since 1993 with the sole exception of 1995. This latest Planners' Choice Award marks the second consecutive year that the Center has received a trio of top industry honors, giving us a perfect "Triple Crown" in both 2003 and 2004. This year alone the Center has won the 2004 Prime Site Award and was named "America's Best Meeting Destination" in the prestigious Watkins Study in addition to this newest honor. "Prestigious honors like the Planners' Choice Award represent the opinions of the most influential people in the meetings industry. For us to repeatedly receive these "votes of confidence" is a tremendous honor and one that we do not take lightly," said Carol Wallace, San Diego Convention Center Corporation president and CEO. "The bar has been raised and we intend to continue meeting and surpassing our industry's expectations."
