Damara Gomez Joins the San Diego Convention Center Corporation as Director of National Sales Accounts

The San Diego Convention Center Corporation (SDCCC) has named Damara Gomez as the new director of national accounts. Gomez will be based out of the SDCCC’s Eastern Regional Office in Washington D.C. She will be responsible for booking and contracting citywide conventions and developing and implementing marketing strategies to drive increased citywide business from Washington D.C. and the East Coast markets to the San Diego Convention Center. The SDCCC has a unique marketing model which is exclusively responsible for all citywide convention sale and activities, resulting in a convenient one-stop-shopping experience for clients.

“Damara has a proven track record and the respect of both clients and industry partners,” said Phyllis Bradley Azama, SDCCC vice president of sales, Eastern Region. “We are thrilled to have such a consummate professional on our team.”

Gomez has more than 15 years of hospitality experience. Before coming to the SDCCC, she was a convention sales manager for the Hilton Washington and Capital Hilton Hotels and successfully completed the Hilton Sales College Program. Prior to the Hilton, Gomez was with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts where she was awarded Manager of the Year four times and named Rising Star of the Year in 2001. She is an active member of numerous professional organizations including the Professional Convention Management Association, Association of Meeting Professionals, the National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners and the Religious Conference Management Association.
