Wintertime is not only one of the best times of year to book your next convention in sunny San Diego, it's also a spectacular time to see one of the most unique and majestic events on the West Coast - the annual migration of the gray whales.
From December through mid-April, more than 20,000 gray whales make the journey from the shallow and frigid waters of the North Pacific to the warm lagoons of Baja, California Mexico. While they are passing by our Southern California shores, attendees can get an up-close and personal view of one of the largest mammals on earth.
A number of whale watching tours are available in San Diego, including Hornblower Cruises and Event tours, with live narration by experienced captains and trained naturalists called 'whalers' from the San Diego Natural History Museum.
Attendees can also combine whale watching cruises with combination packages for a one-of-a-kind San Diego sightseeing experience, with tickets to the USS Midway, San Diego Natural History Museum or the San Diego Maritime Museum.
