Our nation's capital is not the only place to experience the historical wonders that the Smithsonian has to offer.
The San Diego Museum of Man (SDMoM), a cultural and physical anthropology museum, located in the heart of Balboa Park, was recently given a prestigious Smithsonian Affiliation through the Smithsonian Institute. The museum is one of only 164 institutions nationwide to receive this honor. The San Diego Air and Space Museum, also located in Balboa Park, also holds this affiliation.
"Having been identified as an affiliate of the Smithsonian is an indescribable honor, and one that the museum will cherish and utilize for a long time to come," says SDMoM's Executive Director Dr. Micah D. Parzen.
Established in 1996, the Smithsonian Affiliations Program develops collaborative partnerships with museums and cultural and education organizations, bringing the resources of the world-renowned Smithsonian Institute into local communities. Groups of up to 800 people can be accommodated at this landmark building for events and receptions. Check with your convention services manager for details. |
