Getting to PETCO Park and the Gaslamp Quarter from the San Diego Convention Center will soon be easier than ever.
A new pedestrian bridge over Harbor Drive, the street that runs between the Convention Center and San Diego’s urban playground, the Gaslamp Quarter, is scheduled for completion by Fall 2010. The new bridge will allow attendees to walk safely over both the street traffic and the trolley and railroad tracks. It will also connect the 2,000-space Port of San Diego parking garage with Park Boulevard.
The stylized bridge will appear to sail into San Diego’s skyline, reflecting the motif of the Convention Center, which is modeled after both a Polynesian sailing ship and a luxury cruise liner docked side by side along San Diego’s sparkling bay. |
