The San Diego Convention Center will welcome the prestigious International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC) 2011 Annual Conference and 53rd General Assembly to San Diego, June 28 -
July 1. AIPC is the preeminent international association for convention center management professionals representing a global network of 160 facilities in 53 different countries. Nearly 200 attendees from around the world are expected to come to sunny San Diego. This is the first time the meeting will take place in the United States.
"I want to extend a warm welcome to AIPC attendees and encourage them to set time aside to enjoy San Diego's abundant sunshine, beaches and world-class attractions," said Mayor Jerry Sanders. "We're thrilled that San Diego was the first U.S. city selected to host this important industry event, as we have a deep appreciation for the significant role convention facilities - and the events they host - play in the local and global economy."
Carol Wallace, the president and CEO of the San Diego Convention Center Corporation, said, "It's an honor to host AIPC and to have the opportunity to cultivate stronger relationships with our global colleagues. This is an exciting opportunity to compare strategies, glean insights and explore new opportunities to advance an industry that generates enormous economic benefits."
This year's meeting theme, "It's All About Change," will focus on opportunities and challenges as a result of the global recession, new technology, increasing competition, shifting financial models and other industry dynamics.
