Board of Directors
A seven-member board of directors, comprised of business and commuinity leaders, sets policy for the Corporation. The Mayor and City Council recommend and appoint seven voting members. One board advisor is also represented.

Nico Ferraro
Nico Ferraro worked in the pipe trades industry assuming numerous leadership roles in his 40-year career. During his career, he became known for his teamwork philosophy and his ability to get things done. His political career with the Plumbers and Pipefitters union spanned 19 years where he represented the diverse divisions of the union in many ways until retiring in 2008. Governor Gray Davis appointed him to the Industrial Welfare Commission Wage Board, and he was also honored by the San Diego Building Trades as the “John Lyons Labor Leader of the Year 2000” and the San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council as “Labor Leader of the Year 2007.” He has an Associate of Science degree in Labor Studies from San Diego City College.

Steve Cushman
Vice Chair
A fourth generation San Diegan, Mr. Cushman is an experienced businessman and committed civic leader. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved with numerous boards and commissions. He established The Cush Automotive Group and was a recognized leader in the automotive sales industry before its sale in 2006. He was recently named Mr. San Diego, 2013 by the San Diego Rotary Club for his dedication to the betterment of San Diego. In 2001, he received recognition from the San Diego Convention and Visitor's Bureau for Extraordinary Leadership and Support of the Tourism Industry in San Diego. In addition to being an adjunct professor at San Diego State University, he is the Chairman of the Business School Board of Directors SDSU and an active board member for the San Diego Foundation, San Diego Sports Commission and National University.

Rabbi Laurie Coskey
Secretary Treasurer
Rabbi Laurie Coskey is the executive director of the Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice (ICWJ), an organization representing clergy, churches, mosques, synagogues, faith and justice organizations in San Diego. As a community and civil justice advocate, Coskey is chairperson of both the San Diego Community College District Trustee Advisory Board and the Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice-California. She also serves as a member of Interfaith Worker Justice’s board of directors. The Center for American Progress recognized her as one of the 13 Progressive Faith Leaders to Watch in 2013. An expert in multi faith relationships, she is Rabbi in Residence at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral. Some of her many accomplishments include completing her undergraduate studies at Stanford University, receiving her rabbinic ordination, completing her doctorate in Leadership Studies and earning her Doctorate of Divinity. She has been recognized for her contributions through numerous awards and in 2009 was named Woman of the Year for the 76th Assembly District.

Phil Blair
Mr. Blair is the executive officer of Manpower of San Diego, the largest Manpower franchise in the U.S. Manpower provides quality employment opportunities, training and workforce solutions. A leading employment industry expert, he contributes frequently to local business publications, is a long-time KUSI-TV employment commentator and is the author of Strategies for Success, a career resource guide. He serves on the board of directors for the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce; the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Benefits Corporation; LEAD San Diego; the United Way; and the Holiday Bowl. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University.

Gil Cabrera
Gil Cabrera is a civil litigator specializing in business and employment litigation and political law. Prior to forming The Cabrera Firm, Gil Cabrera was a senior associate with Cooley Godward LLP. He is a member of the litigation section of the State Bar of California, the Federal Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association and the San Diego Lawyers Club. Additionally, he serves on the board of directors for the San Diego LGBT Community Center and the San Diego County Taxpayers Association. Previously, he served as the co-chair for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District Lawyers Representative Panel to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Cabrera is a former chair and commissioner of the City of San Diego Ethics Commission and former co-chair of the San Diego Chief of Police's Use of Force Task Force, chair of the Board of Directors of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego and a member of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America National Board of Directors.
Candace M. Carroll
Candace M. Carroll is a highly-regarded appellate practitioner with more than 30 years experience handling appeals in the federal, state and bankruptcy appellate courts. She has taught seminars in advanced legal writing at the Duke University and University of San Diego School Law Schools, and currently supervises a Ninth Circuit Legal Clinic at the University of San Diego Law School. She is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the California Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and in several other circuits, and in the United States District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts. Ms. Carroll previously served as the president of the San Diego County Bar Association and of California Women Lawyers, the statewide women's bar association, and currently chairs Senator Barbara Boxer's Judicial Appointments Committee for the Southern District of California.
Marilyn Hannes
Marilyn Hannes is the Vice President of Marketing for SeaWorld and Aquatica in San Diego. She is responsible for sales and marketing for the San Diego parks as well as overseeing marketing effort for Pacific Rim and Mexico for SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. She is a past Chair and current Regional Ambassador for the California Travel Association. Additionally, she served as Chair for the International Advisory Committee of Visit California and is a current member of the Marketing Committee, Family Travel Task Force, and 5-year Strategic Planning Task Force. Ms. Hannes has served as Chair for the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau Web Interactive Task Force and is currently serving on the Marketing Committee and on the San Diego Tourism Marketing District's Marketing Advisory Task Force. Ms. Hannes is also the current Board Chair for the National Council of Attractions with the U.S. Travel Association.
Bruce L. Goodwin, ISHC

Bruce Goodwin is the managing principal of Goodwin & Associates (G&A), a hospitality industry consulting firm based in San Diego and Mexico City. G&A specializes in acquisition and development consulting for hospitality industry related projects in the southwestern U.S. and throughout Mexico and Central America. He has over 30 years of consulting experience and 15 years of direct hotel management experience. Clients of G&A include international hotel chains and financial institutions. Mr. Goodwin currently serves on the boards of the San Diego Hotel-Motel Association, the Vista Hill Foundation and the International Society of Hospitality Consultants.

Carol Wallace is responsible for the overall management of the San Diego Convention Center Corporation. She has more than 30 years of experience in the facility management industry. Ms. Wallace's hard work and dedication have earned her numerous industry accolades and appointments. Currently she is serving on the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board, a group responsible for advising the U.S. Secretary of Commerce on ways to strengthen the travel and tourism industry. She also serves as the North American representative on the AIPC (International Association of Congress Centres) board of directors as well as the Professional Convention Management Association's (PCMA) Education Foundation board of trustees. She is the past president of the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM), the world's largest public assembly facility management association.
